546 Micrographs

LAS email 2/15/08

Photos of 546, 68:32 sand:ice.

Plenty of images at both low and high resolution. Some of the very close-ups of the ice arent overly interesting, except to show that evidence of grain boundaries is nonexistant.

In all photos in all the emails (and there were several sections of samples looked at) the compression direction is oriented NE-SW.

I'm only sending the photos that arent full of junky fragments or condensation. These samples were very hard to cleave in the prep-station, so hard to get clean surfaces for nice images.

Row 5, image 1: This low-resolution image was taken after the sample surface had sublimated a bit, which helps show the arrangement of the qtz grains (LAS: c.f. Row 4, image 2?).
